Transfer Options
We are happy to organise transfers for you from Johannesburg, Pretoria or Gaborone in order to make your arrival and departure as comfortable as possible. We work with selected, reliable suppliers which will take you either by plane or by road to Rhulani and back again.
Please inform our front of house about your exact transfer requirements and we will gladly include the transfer of your choice in our offer to you.
All rates below include VAT and are subject to change without prior notice due to unpredictable price increases.
Private Road Transfer Rates
From / to Johannesburg or Pretoria
- 2024 per way: one to three passengers R6 720; four to seven passengers R7 820; eight to 13 passengers R10 120
- 2025 per way: one to three passengers R7 185; four to seven passengers R8 395; eight to 13 passengers R10 695
From / to Gaborone
- 2024 per way: one to three passengers R3 000; four to six passengers R4 500; seven to 13 passengers R6 900
- 2025 per way: one to three passengers R3 200; four to six passengers R4 810; seven to 13 passengers R7 380

Our Suppliers
Our suppliers are professional tour operators. The drivers/guides are fully accredited and medically cleared. All vehicles are comprehensively insured to carry international tourists (PDP).
Rates include driver, vehicle, fuel and toll fees.
Air Transfer Rates
Scheduled flight from / to Johannesburg
Applicable rates are per person per way flight:
- 2024: adults R6 870 (South African residents: R5 945)
- 2025: adults R7 295 (South African residents: R6 430)
Children (two to 11 years): 25% discount; infants under two years: 75% discount
A single supplement might apply in case you are the only passenger
Federal Airlines
Our supplier is Federal Airlines (Fedair). You will be welcomed on your arrival at Johannesburg OR Tambo International Airport and escorted to the departure lounge.
After a one-hour flight you will land on the western airstrip of Madikwe Game Reserve, where you will be greeted by a Rhulani ranger and taken to the lodge (15-minute drive) – your first safari!
Flight Times
Two daily scheduled flights from Johannesburg OR Tambo International Airport (flight duration: one hour)
- From Johannesburg to Madikwe: 10am/1pm
- From Madikwe to Johannesburg: 11.30am/2.30pm
Fedair Luggage Restriction and T&C's
One piece of checked soft luggage/duffle bag of max. 20kg (one flat side will be allowed) and one piece of soft hand luggage of max. 5kg per person will be allowed. In case of excess/overweight luggage complimentary luggage-storing facility is provided.
Fedair Terms & Conditions
Please note that the current terms and conditions mentioned on your flight ticket regarding check-in times and luggage restrictions by Fedair will apply. Landing and departure times may be delayed due to weather conditions or animals obstructing the runway in Madikwe. Rhulani cannot be held responsible for flight delays.
Please make sure you have enough time at the terminal of OR Tambo International Airport if you have a connecting flight.
Charter Flights
Please let us know if you would like us to organise a charter flight for you. A charter flight is organised exclusively and privately for you and your fellow travellers. The flight time can be freely chosen according to your wishes – a unique experience!
The aircraft type is a Cessna Caravan 208B. The maximum number of guests is 10 adults.
Please note that an eight-seater executive interior configuration needs to be requested and confirmed in advance. Otherwise, the standard 12-seater configuration will be used.
Fly-in rates from / to Johannesburg
Applicable rates are per way (prices may vary at short notice):
- 2024: R85 000 (from January to June); R95 000 (from July to December)
Helicopter Flights
Rhulani Safari Lodge has its own helipad.
