Rhulani starts process with detailed registration of waste disposal

Making progress, step by step. At Rhulani Safari Lodge, waste is meticulously separated, weighed separately, and recorded, and the associated CO2 emissions are calculated to measure our success in our action plan to reduce our footprint. A picture today of the weekly waste disposal.

Phemelo and Zero from Rhulani’s maintenance team together with our waste disposal company, Rasellos, ensured that the weekly collection was accurately recorded.

As Rhulani's manager, Tom-Hendrik Basson, comments, this was a fairly typical amount at the start, which would be generated after a week of lodge operation.

It's quite interesting to note that of the total 352 kg of waste, 198 kg was food waste, or more than half. This figure includes food waste from guests as well as staff meals, and it clearly shows us a clear area for further optimization.
