Rhulani Minute Safari – A milkweed locust

- Wildlife

The milkweed locust which we often found in our areas is a colourful African grasshopper and is about 7 cm long. It raises and rustles its wings when disturbed and may secrete a noxious fluid from its thoracic joint. They typically congregate in large numbers on trees and shrubs, arranged in such a way as to resemble foliage.
