Rhulani Insights 247 – Cleaning the fish pond

- Accommodation, Rhulani Insights

Look behind the scenes of Rhulani Safari Lodge.

At the entrance to the lodge, right next to the reception, there is a small pond in which a few goldfish swim around. However, dust and rain make the water cloudy, so cleaning the pond is one of the regular tasks of the maintenance team. Let's have a chat with Willem, Rhulani’s head of maintenance, at work.

My favorite place to read is next to the pond in my backyard.

Today Willem has a young helper at work, Luca, who particularly enjoys the first part of the job, namely catching the fish. There are more than 10 goldfish swimming around in the murky water, and they have to be temporarily moved into a bucket while the pond is being cleaned.

So you see that the constant upkeep in a safari lodge can be a real pleasure, even for our little guests!

Stay tuned for the next episode on 6 April when we look at the Africa Safe-T ambulance.
