Look behind the scenes of Rhulani Safari Lodge.
In Rhulani's solar system there are not only panels, but there is also storage. This means that there is a small, closed space where we have batteries in which the excess energy that is produced during the day can be stored and used at night. Today let's take a look at the battery room.
I think of the sun as my battery, my charger.
Thanks to the battery capacity (and together with a powerful generator as a backup in case of emergency), Rhulani operates completely autonomously, i.e. off the grid.
Here in the well-cooled battery room we see the heavy batteries, each of them weighing over 600 kg, the inverters, a control screen, and in general it is the place where all the cables converge here at this central location.
Stay tuned for the next episode on 16 June when we find an Elephant skull out in the bush.
